This is Our Planet Facing Environmental Challenges
"Observational evidence from all continents and most oceans shows that many natural systems are being affected by regional climate changes, particularly temperature increases." PCC WGII Fourth Assessment Report Summary for Policymakers April 6th, 2007
As the global warming debate heats up the world in more ways than one, it brings with it growing concern regarding the issue of Environmental Challenges:
Water Scarcity
The world is increasingly facing a serious water shortage and lack of quality water supply as global industry and agriculture compete with local populations for freshwater access and use. Today only 0.3% of the world's water is usable and 70% of the world's usable water goes to agriculture.

"In mid-century, annual average of water availability is projected to decrease by 10-30% over some dry regions at mid-latitudes; some of which are resently water stressed areas." (Source: UN Report, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2007)
Food Supply Exploding birthrates indicate that the world’s population will duplicate itself by 50% by the next generation. Food availability does not keep pace with population growth. Traditional agricultural practices are diluting the earth’s resources to a point where there will no longer be sufficient natural resources to supply the world’s basic needs for food.
Global Warming Greenhouse gases emitted to the environment are boosting a warming trend that is increasing drought seasons and expanding the world’s arid areas.
Energy Crises Fossil fuel reserves are declining and are expected to be exploited within 30-50 years.
