Changing Water Regulatory Approaches

Governments worldwide are already offering freshwater subsidies for leveraging water resources to encourage development and agricultural production.

 

Due to concern over world ecosystems’ water quality, governments all over the globe are now implementing a variety of regulatory methods for reducing water pollution and enhancing water conservation.

 

Global regulations addressing freshwater quality and waste are becoming more rigorous including stricter discharge limits for pollutants and nutrients, technology requirements, water use restrictions, and effluent rights trading.

 

Governments worldwide are already offering freshwater subsidies for leveraging water resources to encourage development and agricultural production. In some areas of the world, subsidies have been restructured to  provide incentives for conservation, efficiency, and watershed protection.
