Drip Irrigation

Any crop. Any topography. Any climate. Any soil. Anywhere.

Transforming the lives of millions of farmers around the world: enabling higher yields while saving on water, fertilizer and energy.

What is drip irrigation system?

The most efficient water and nutrient delivery system for growing crops, it delivers water and nutrients directly to the plant’s root zone, in the right amounts, at the right time, so each plant gets exactly what it needs, when it needs it, to grow optimally. It enables farmers to produce higher yields while saving on water as well as fertilizers, energy.

How does it work?
Water and nutrients are delivered across the field in pipes called ‘dripelines’ featuring small units known as ‘drippers’. Each dripper emits drops containing water and fertilizer, resulting in the uniform application of water and nutrients direct to each plant's root zone, across an entire field.

What Our Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) studies Reveal About Drip Irrigation - Measured Impact Across Crops?

LCA in coffee

LCA in coffee

Our coffee LCA in Vietnam shows that drip irrigation improved environmental performance and crop productivity compared with overhead sprinklers, demonstrating its role in more sustainable coffee production. Learn more about the benefits of drip irrigation for coffee.

LCA in Corn

LCA in Corn

Drawing on six years of data from 200 growers in Turkey, this corn LCA shows drip irrigation outperformed flood and sprinkler systems across yield, fertilizer use, and carbon footprint. Learn more about this study.

LCA in Potato

LCA in Potato

This potato LCA study in the UK found that drip irrigation reduced global warming potential by 54%  and lowered water use by 40% compared with rain guns.  Here’s why drip irrigation is better for potato cultivation.
