Empowering Farmers, Advancing Goals: A Scalable Solution for Water Sustainability

As companies look to increase their efforts to meet ambitious water stewardship goals, transparency and measurable results have become essential. Netafim’s Corporate Water stewardship program offers a practical, scalable, high-impact solution by connecting corporate sustainability funding with farmers interested in converting into drip irrigation systems, but lacking the financial capital to move forward. Leveraging the ability to rapidly reach vast numbers of hectares worldwide, Netafim is embracing the opportunity to make large-scale water conservation a feasible reality. While corporate water stewardship has advanced significantly over the past decade, there is still more work to be done than there is funding. Today's water stewardship leaders can show the way to many companies that have yet to set water targets.

Turning Water Goals into Ground-Level Gains: A Win-Win Model for Stewardship

Through cost-sharing partnerships, Netafim helps farmers implement advanced drip irrigation technologies that reduce water demand and improve water quality in water-stressed regions. Each project measures the precise water savings achieved. These verified savings are then claimed as “volumetric water benefits or VWBs” to the sponsoring companies —helping them close the gap between their operational water use and basin-level sustainability thresholds.

This model creates a win-win scenario: corporations fulfill their water stewardship commitments with transparent, measurable impact, while farmers gain higher yields, lower costs, and greater climate resilience. By optimizing resource use on the ground, Netafim’s program drives real change that benefits local communities, agriculture, and ecosystems alike.

Achieving Project Success with Precision-Based Monitoring

GrowSphere™ is a cutting-edge irrigation and fertigation operating system developed by Netafim, which allows farmers to incorporate precision-based monitoring, alerts and control into their day-to-day operations. When it comes to reduced water use, GrowSphere deploys advanced digital monitoring to save every drop possible.

Farmers receive actionable insights from every sensor in the field.

Water use is controlled at the click of a button, in accordance with weather and soil condition recommendations.

GrowSphere™ integrates seamlessly with all hydraulic sensors, including water and fertilizer meters, pressure sensors and pressure switches.

Easily generated reporting helps track and analyze water saving patterns and optimize short and long-term water use.

Partnering for Water Impact: Corporate & Farmer Success Stories

Netafim pairs businesses dedicated to meeting ambitious environmental goals with farmers interested in implementing highly advanced irrigation systems.

Keurig Dr Pepper

Keurig Dr Pepper is committed to reducing its environmental impacts and restoring resources in support of a regenerative and circular economy. Working with Netafim, KDP has supported the installation of drip irrigation systems on farms in the Sacramento watershed and San Joaquin Valley. As part of this effort, farmers were incentivized to deploy state-of-the-art crop management practices and robust reporting and data collection. Collaboration is key to successful water stewardship actions that benefit watersheds and local communities. LimnoTech supported KDP with an independent volumetric water benefit assessment of the KDP-Netafim partnership projects in California’s Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys.

Google

Google understands the interconnectedness of California’s water conveyance systems and as part of its commitment to water stewardship, supports multiple interventions to increase water resilience in the state. Reducing agricultural water demand is one way to positively impact California’s water resources. With farmers facing rising costs and lower margins, Google’s partnership can help farmers who desire to switch to more efficient irrigation make the change happen sooner. Working with Netafim, a farmer in Dos Palos was identified and desired to switch from flood-irrigated alfalfa to drip irrigated almonds. LimnoTech collaborates and works together with companies like Google and Netafim, to support watershed stewardship actions that can help create stronger communities and healthier environments. LimnoTech supported Google with an independent volumetric water benefit assessment of the Google-Netafim partnership project.
