Project and financial viability
In 2015, Ethiopian Sugar Corporation partnered with Netafim to expand sugarcane production. Leveraging global expertise, Netafim initiated the world's largest greenfield drip irrigated sugarcane project, spanning 7,000 hectares. A 65km pipeline delivers water directly to the Wolkaite plantation, utilizing advanced resource-efficient technology. Netafim managed all aspects, from feasibility studies and financing to designing and constructing two mega-pump stations and the extensive pipeline. They continue to provide agro-technica support for seamless precision irrigation implementation.
