AgTech leader Netafim Wins Impact Award at GreenTech Festival

Berlin, June 19th, 2021- Netafim, the global leader of precision irrigation solutions and agricultural projects, part of the Orbia community of companies, has been awarded a prestigious Green Award in the Impact category of the GreenTech festival awards; the global platform that empowers changemakers and fosters innovative green technologies for a sustainable future.

The Green Awards, at the heart of the GreenTech Festival, celebrate the most innovative projects and minds. The award honors outstanding personalities, institutions, companies, start-ups, and innovations. The Impact category recognizes companies or institutions that have already made a substantial positive impact on the environment or on people’s awareness of the environment, particularly over recent years.

Netafim has been recognized for its ongoing efforts to pair its energy, technology, and passion with a green vision. In 1965 Netafim was the first company to introduce drip irrigation. Over the years it grew into the largest irrigation company in the world, committed to fighting the scarcity of food, water, and land for a sustainable future. Drip irrigation uses micro-emitters that release water in small doses to the plant root zone, saving up to 70% water, which amounts to a global estimated saving of 30-40 Billion m³ of water a year. The technology secures livelihoods for farmers and smallholders across the globe in the face of climate change, allowing them to grow more, with less.

Gabriel (Gaby) Miodownik, Netafim CEO said: “Sustainability has been part of the Netafim DNA for more than 55 years and an integral part of every decision we make. When farming sustainably, farmers are able to use fewer resources to grow more food, even in the face of climate change, attaining economic stability. Our natural resources are conserved and we’re able to achieve long-term water and food security. It's time we all embraced a more sustainable agenda and practices to secure a brighter food future and protect our planet.”
